On one hand, it's definitely one of the most mature story lines out there, thematically; on the other, watching this MC is like torture 😆--there's hardly a minute he doesn't look like he's about to cry. You realise we talking about a show where the MC is a literal teen? The kid was around the girl for most of his life. Only recently started encountering other girls. It's also more than likely his first 'love'. So kinda difficult to judge his actions.

We watch these shows through the lens of adulthood, which gives us insight brought on by years of experience, allowing us to gauge, calculate and counter situations differently than teens in similar situations would.

The demon girl, while lonely and experiencing her own tribulations what with being an heir an all, seems to come across as having ulterior motives.
